Because Empowered Yoga places great emphasis on maintaining the meditative flow of our regular classes, we have developed workshops that focus on specific aspects of our yoga path. They help you deepen your understanding of our methodology and the practice.

Workshops encourage dialogue and also give our teachers time to stop and expand on the science and art of yoga. We strongly encourage workshops for those who want to take their practice to a new level. Workshops are offered in formats of 60, 75, 90, and minutes.

Life is a journey that requires a compass to know which direction to go. A strong yoga practice cultivates the art of being still, allowing a practitioner to listen deeply. From this ground, we can contemplate our choices and make skillful decisions that guide us in the direction of happiness and reduced suffering on our journey. Through discussion, a short meditation, and an energizing yoga practice, we will explore the four directions of the spiritual compass and weave them into our lives.

Breema Workshop

Breema® Bodywork Workshop with Walter Hjelt Sullivan

Receive deeply in a non-judgmental atmosphere. Come to the present moment supported by body and breath. BREEMA®  BODYWORK nurtures the body’s instinctive healing energy through nourishing holds, tension relieving stretches, tapping, brushing, and leans with the natural weight of the practitioner's body. Sessions take place on a padded floor, with practitioner and recipient comfortably dressed. No previous bodywork experience is necessary. Accommodations can be made for differing physical abilities. Oxygen is our number one fuel. How we breathe matters. The benefits of becoming an efficient breather are both physiological and psychological. Pranayama (Sanskrit words combining prana = life force and ayama = mastering) is the yogic art of using breath to regulate energy flow and balance.

Join us for this four class series that will include breathing techniques with immediate beneficial results such as decreasing heart rate and blood pressure, clearing sinuses, and amplifying the parasympathetic system (“rest and digest”).

Leave each practice feeling light and alert after releasing negative emotions. Pranayama techniques presented will strengthen your asana practice whether you attend Essentials, Stationary Sequence, or Vinyasa classes.

Let Your Life Speak Workshop

Ever have a problem trying to voice something difficult with a loved one? Have you ever felt like turning off a "voice in your head" when you're trying to sleep? Or has there been a time when you tried to conjure up the nerve to "speak your mind" effectively?

This workshop is all about learning how to find the wisdom in the voices within all of us. These "voices" are what Zen has called "ten thousand Dharmas" which are the myriad of singular mind-states or voices within all of us.  When we give appreciation to these voices and allow them to speak, they transform from a nagging voice, or a fearful voice to a voice that is more useful to you at just the right moment.  The Big Mind process is a skillful means that we will use during this participatory and enlightening afternoon together.

Restorative Yoga Workshop

Restorative Yoga focuses on opening and relaxing your body, providing an opportunity to heal and renew in poses held for up to five minutes. Props will be used for support so that the body can surrender while the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated for a lower heart rate and healthy immune system. This class is open to all levels and is an optimal way to go deeper by slowing down. Pre-registration is required.

Yoga Asana and Meditation Workshop

In this workshop, we will use stretching and contraction in asana to help deepen our awareness of ourselves. We will move from pose to meditation and from meditation to pose. Through these transitions we will begin to shrink the gap between the two. By alternately sitting in meditation and moving through postures we will build new awareness around our asana practice and gain new insight into the process of concentration and meditation. Open to all levels - no previous yoga or meditation experience necessary.
