Restorative Yoga with Chris Vennard

Restorative yoga is a therapeutic style that uses props to support the body, encouraging deep relaxation. Using passive yoga asanas we let our nervous systems shift and enjoy the benefit of true rest. Different from more active styles, we will concentrate on surrendering our weight to supports and softening into the stretches. This helps us to relieve the effects of negative stress encountered in daily life, and can be highly beneficial in times of fatigue, illness, and emotional strain.
This is an all-levels practice designed to release blocked energy centers, calm the mind and gently open the body; leaving you feeling rested, refreshed, and peaceful. Open to all levels, beginners are welcome. Class size limited.

Yoga and Essential Oils: Autumnal Equinox with Faith Miller

At the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes day and night are of equal length. The equinoxes are the point of balance between the two solstices: the Summer Solstice when the days are longest and the Winter Solstice when the nights are longest. The Spring Equinox is like an athlete poised ready for action as the year enters its light, growth phase. Whereas the Autumn Equinox marks the beginning of the dark, composting phase of the year. Both the Spring and Autumn Equinox are rich with symbolism that you can integrate in to your yoga practice and your life. Also by aligning your own energies to the natural rhythms of the earth and the suns' cycles you can achieve outward success during the growth phase of the year, and enjoy rest, contemplation and renewal during the dormant phase of the year.
Join Faith Miller for a mixture of unraveling flowing of postures, grounding restorative poses and a thoughtful reading and meditation to assist in this transitional shift. Oils that promote release and weave room to welcome the coming renewal will be highlighted.

Deep relaxation is the easiest way to access the subconscious. In Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), we use deep relaxation as a means to plant the seed of the sankalpa (intention) to create lasting, meaningful change in our lives. In relaxation, your body becomes receptive to your desire for transformation. It is said that the intention you sincerely set for Yoga Nidra – to quit smoking, to be loving and kind, to find forgiveness – is bound to come true.
We will begin with a gentle practice to prepare our bodies for Yoga Nidra. Please bring a blanket.

The literal translation of the Sanskrit word Vinyasa means "to carefully place. “ It also refers to a sequence of poses that are practiced in a particular order. These workshops will focus on the building blocks of a Vinyasa practice.
In the first session, Elements of Vinyasa, you will learn and practice the four poses incorporated in the Vinyasa - Down Dog, Plank, Chatturanga, and Up Dog. We will highlight safe alignment, efficient form, and modifications that allow students to transition between the poses in a flowing, graceful manner.
During the second workshop, Breathe to Move, you will explore Step Back Salutations, the dynamic warm-up portion of our Vinyasa style class. You will practice linking breath to movement, the key to developing a strong meditative quality to your practice.
This workshop is open to students of all levels of experience.
We reserve the right to cancel any workshop within 24 hours of its start due to low enrollment.
Payment in full is required at the time of registration for any scheduled event or workshop.
Refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received no later than two weeks prior to the date of the event.
Cancellation and refund requests received no later than seven days prior to the event/workshop start date will receive credit toward another service, workshop, or event.
