Amy Denstman Ball, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Amy Ball didn’t find her passion in life until she found yoga when a good friend convinced her to try the Brand New Beginner course. It didn’t take long before she was hooked. Since 2006, she’s been returning to her mat every day, experiencing the asanas with the same wonder she felt as a beginner.

Amy was introduced to Bikram yoga while attending school in Miami, Florida. It was during that time that she realized she wanted to become a teacher and help others. After returning to Delaware in 2008 to pursue her master’s degree in Business, she began the 200-Hour Teacher Training at Empowered Yoga. Amy enjoys teaching, especially helping students understand what is required to bring the mind, body, and spirit into balance to realize full potential.

Janice Trevisani, ERYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Janice Trevisani brings her passion for the practice into each class and encourages a willingness to explore what your body needs from moment to moment. She believes that it is important to always give your best effort and then let your best be enough.

Janice began practicing yoga in 2000 when a friend told her it was a great workout. While the physical benefits were wonderful, the mental and spiritual benefits were life transforming. Her gratitude for the practice and the dedication of her teachers inspired her to give back. In 2002, Janice attended her first teacher-training workshop with master teacher, Beryl Bender Birch. In 2004, Janice completed a 200-Hour Teacher Training at Power Yoga Works in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Always looking to grow as both a student and yoga teacher, Janice came to Empowered Yoga to try the Stationary Sequence class and enjoyed the heat and challenge. In 2008, she completed her second 200-Hour Teacher Training with Empowered Yoga/Verge Yoga.

Joanne Ambrogi, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Joanne Ambrogi first came to the mat in the early 1990s. She returned in 2006 as she prepared to attend a course on yoga and osteoporosis. Little did she know the impact that class and the next four years would have on her life.

Working as a physical therapist, Joanne utilizes the mind body connection in assisting her patients to heal. Likewise, her yoga classes are rooted in basic presence and facilitating acceptance. Her humorous way of teaching facilitates finding compassion for all that life has to offer. The passion for life that she brings to the practice will leave you feeling courageous and inspired.

In 1988, Joanne graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in athletic training. She became a massage therapist in 1993 and received her master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Neumann University in 2001. Merav Narunsky, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Merav Narunsky’s intention is to help her students understand how to move correctly and efficiently to empower them to take full advantage of body, mind, and soul in order to live a healthy and happy life. The road is long, and the process can be painful at times, but the end result is magnificent.

Merav came to yoga in her mid-thirties looking to regain the physical balance that was slipping away with age and life events.  For three years, she practiced Iyengar yoga in Israel and loved the precision and the use of props this method offers. Her plans to become an Iyengar yoga teacher had to be set aside when she moved to the United States in 2001. For a few years, she ventured in and out of yoga, trying to find the environment that would recreate the sensations she previously experienced on her mat. When she stepped into her first Empowered Yoga class ten years later, she knew she had found her yoga home. In 2013, Merav completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Empowered Yoga and fulfilled her dream of becoming a yoga teacher. She holds a degree in Physical Education and is a certified Pilates instructor and indoors cycling instructor.

With a drive and desire to help others, Kim incorporates a lighthearted, fun-loving attitude with a personable hands-on approach. Annie Marks, ERYT 500, PYT, C-IAYT
Balanced Athlete Certified

Annie Marks welcomes you with an open heart and an open mind as she invites you to partake in a playful and energetic yoga experience. Her class will engage your mind, empower your body, and help calm the stresses of your everyday life. Heed the call to leave your stress at the door and experience calm freedom. Annie’s love of mindful movement began when she was only seven.

During many years of ballet, she discovered a sense of calm in movement. She graduated with a degree in nursing with an eye toward helping people achieve health and wellness. She became certified as a personal trainer and started a “prehab” practice, helping people prevent disease rather than just help them cure it after it occurred. Her first yoga experience was at a fitness convention where she was humbled and fascinated by the obvious disconnection between her body and mind. What followed was a committed daily yoga practice that began in 2003. She came to Empowered Yoga in search of a deeper spiritual practice and immediately knew she had come home. Annie graduated from Empowered Yoga’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2012.

Mary Ward, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

In Mary Ward’s class, you can always expect a calm, friendly atmosphere. Her soothing voice will remind you to relax and find the balance between effort and ease.

Mary came to yoga looking for something more than just exercise. She found a disciplined practice that touches both body and soul. She completed the Empowered Yoga Teacher Training in 2005 and has been teaching ever since. Her greatest joy at EY is teaching the Brand New Beginner course.

Nancy McConnell, ERYT 200 – RYT 500,
Balanced Athlete Certified

When Nancy McConnell came to her first yoga class in 2000 in search of a new form of exercise, she had no idea how many doors would open for her on her journey. During that first class, the teacher invited everyone to “just be.” Those two words keep her coming back to her mat each day, dedicated to her desire to share yoga with others.

Owner/director of a local pre-school, Nancy began teaching yoga to children in 2003 after being certified by Next Generation Yoga.  She continued her training and completed her first RYT 200 with OM Yoga in 2004, then with Empowered Yoga in 2005, and her RYT 500 at Charm City Yoga in 2010.  Her passion is working with Brand New Beginner students and supporting new teachers at Empowered Yoga. Her focus is always on alignment and keeping her students safe while helping them discover the many benefits yoga can bring both on and off the mat. Beware! Her passion for yoga is contagious!

Amy Griffin, RYT 200

Amy Griffin brings a calm, healing energy to her classes. She encourages students to accept themselves as they are and to practice letting go of all things in life that are no longer serving them.

Amy has been practicing yoga since 2007.  She completed the Empowered Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

Barb Stitz, RYT 200

In Barb Stitz's classes, you will share in the gifts given to her from each of her teachers. In her own daily practice, she is continually learning, growing, and bringing a newfound awareness to the mat. A balance of physical effort and ease with attention to breath and body is the key focus as a reminder to students to remain present, aware, and compassionate.

Barb's yoga practice evolved much the same way it does for many. An avid runner for years, she was experiencing back pain which kept her off the road. Conventional physical therapy provided only temporary relief. In 2007, her forward-thinking orthopedist encouraged a regular yoga practice. Barb discovered that the practice not only kept her physical body in check but also brought her spiritual self to a more grounded and balanced place. While enrolled in the Empowered Yoga Teacher Training, she attended the Costa Rica retreat in 2011. This experience had a profound effect on her as she witnessed a shift in all who participated. With the encouragement of her facilitators, she felt inspired to pass on the gifts given to her. Completing her Teacher Training in 2011, she started down a new path as an instructor with Empowered Yoga.

Susan Schwartz, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Susan Schwartz’s classes are infused with rhythm and flow. Her direction is clear and concise, and her ability to be present with her students at each moment is evident.  With the use of music that allows students to connect with their own power and presence, she creates an atmosphere for growth. Her classes are physically challenging, but there is always room for graceful pauses and reminders to balance effort with softness and ease.

Susan's love of movement comes from many years committed to the study of dance, including ballet. She began practicing yoga in 2001, embracing the obvious connection between yoga and dance. It wasn't until 2004, however, after the birth of her son that Susan came to Empowered Yoga in search of deeper mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. That is when her true practice began. She believes so much in Empowered Yoga's methodology, not just because it keeps people safe and builds real strength, but also because of its simplicity. She believes this simplicity is essential in allowing people to delve within and explore a meditative state while practicing. After practicing a few years and finding constant inspiration from fellow students and the amazing teachers at the studio, Susan enrolled in the Empowered Yoga Teacher Training, graduating in 2008. The rest is history. This is home.

Ashley Seldon, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Ashley Seldon is excited to share her experiences of the practice with her students as she continues to explore all that yoga has to offer. It is her intention that each class will allow students to be more aware of their bodies and more in touch with their souls. Her goal for students is to leave happily exhausted with a clear mind.

Ashley is a former Division One college athlete and runner. Her yoga practice changed not only her perspective of yoga but also her perspective of her life. It was clear that each time she stepped onto her mat she learned something new and left feeling grounded. She quickly recognized the benefits of a committed practice for herself and imagined the benefits for her personal training clients. Following completion of the 2013 Empowered Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, her personal training style morphed into a more mindful and balanced one. Her practice and experience have helped her to realize that life doesn't always have to be so “go, go, go”; sometimes progress comes from slowing down and recognizing the moment.

Vicki Neylon, RYT 500,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Vicki Neylon believes that the inner peace and outer strength that one can accomplish through yoga will enhance one’s life in every way. Don't be surprised to find yourself completely present on your mat in Vicki's class. Her focus is not only correct alignment but also steadiness of mind, body, and breath. The ease and softness of her voice will help you relax and enjoy your practice.

After viewing exercise as "me time" away from the challenging role of stay-at-home mom to two young boys, Vicki found herself frequenting Empowered Yoga. The feeling of being present and the quieting of the mind are what kept her coming back. After practicing for several years, she credited her decision to teach to the inspiration from the exceptional staff at Empowered Yoga. Vicki completed the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Empowered Yoga in 2009.

Jill Reed, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

When Jill Reed walked into her first class at Empowered Yoga, she thought she was in good shape. She was in her mid-20s and running half-marathons, but she found that yoga exhausted her. However, she stayed with the practice and discovered that as her strength and flexibility increased, she became less emotionally reactive, more compassionate, and more equipped to deal with the little inconsistencies of life.

Jill's intention for her class is to make it a moving meditation, focusing on the breath and relaxing into each posture. She believes wholeheartedly in the importance of breath and the benefits of relaying it into our tight spots. She aims for her class to reflect yoga as a universal system; no matter your age, race, socioeconomic status, or life experiences, through yoga you can enhance your life physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Jill earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Delaware and has worked in fitness throughout her professional career. She completed Empowered Yoga’s 200-Hour Teacher Training Program in 2006. She has also completed Little Flower Yoga’s Teacher Training program for children's yoga, with the vision of planting the seed of yoga in as many young people as possible for their health and spiritual well being.

Angie Hall, RYT 200,
Balanced Athlete Certified

Angie Hall’s career as a Junior Olympic gymnast spanned 10 years.  She traveled abroad and throughout the United States, managing to sustain top-level competitive status.  Despite many serious injuries, her passion for gymnastics kept her involved into her twenties. She eventually worked as a coach and trainer in the sport. Over the years, she spent a lot of time in physical therapy, constantly working to rebuild ligaments and recover from surgeries. After becoming convinced of the importance of balance and overall strength in preventing injuries, she decided to dedicate herself to working in positions where she could have an impact helping others achieve their goals while striving to remain injury free.
Angie became the understudy to her last therapist/trainer in 2006, and over the years she has successfully helped hundreds of clients achieve their goals. As a personal trainer, she has remained focused on balance in every aspect, including diet. Becoming a yoga instructor was a natural step for her, as it had become an integral part of her own training. She completed her 200-Hour Teacher Training in 2011.

Angie’s classes are charged with her positive energy and uplifting spirit. She smoothly incorporates her passion for movement, music, and mindfulness into every class.  As an instructor, her goal is to unite individuals from all walks of life, as we are all reminded of the love, respect, and gratitude we have for each other and ourselves. She provides a safe and peaceful environment for her students to fully experience their practice.

Having practiced and taught in several countries, crossing language barriers and maneuvering through various cultures, Faith continues to find one consistent truth: "The universal language of love and community resonates deep within each of us if we simply find the time and space to listen closely."

You can expect to find a challenging physical practice heavily focused on functional alignment of the body using ancient elements and taking care to translate them into effective practices for our modern body structures. Faith aims to create familiarity with effective movements designed to mobilize and open up the body while creating space for a moving meditation practice. Faith also firmly believes that music is key in her practice. Inspiring students to elevate emotional connection on their mat, she often uses elements of aromatherapy and Ayurveda.

I love sharing this practice with others.”
