What is Ayurveda?

Alison Driscoll, Ayerveda

Developed at least 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda, a philosophy and a way of life, may well be the oldest health science in the world. Its aim is to integrate and balance the body, mind, and spirit to help prevent illness and promote wellness.

In my practice I have a threefold orientation: nutrition and lifestyle; bodywork (polarity therapy, marma chikitsa, and shirodhara); and meditation.

What happens in an Ayurvedic consultation?

I will assess your prakruti, or constitutional type/temperament, and vikruti, or current imbalances, through observation of the pulse, tongue, nails, skin, and other diagnostic tools, and we will have an in-depth conversation about your presenting concerns and health history.

During our first session, I will make initial recommendations and suggest any way in which I can assist you. If you would like to continue to work together, we will design a plan of action and timetable to meet your goals.
